Rupin Pass Trek 8N/9D

The Rupin Pass Trek is considered by many Himalayan trekking experts to be one of the most dramatic and visually stunning treks in India. This 9-day crossing starts in the gorges of Uttarakhand (Dhaula, in Uttarkashi district) and ends in the high-altitude apple orchards of Sangla Valley, Himachal Pradesh — a genuine multi-state crossing through utterly different landscapes.

What sets Rupin apart is its signature feature: the massive snow bridges in May and June. As the Rupin gorge narrows above the Upper Waterfall Camp, centuries of accumulated snow form enormous natural bridges spanning the river — some 20–30 metres high — that trekkers walk beneath and over. The scale is extraordinary. Later in the season (September–October), the snow bridges have melted, but the trail is drier and the landscape equally spectacular.

The route passes through remote Himalayan villages — Sewa, Jhaka, Dhanderas Thatch — that see few outsiders. The locals are predominantly from the Kinnauri and Garhwali communities, and the hospitality is genuine and warm. The final descent into Sangla Valley — famous for its apple orchards, ancient Kamru Fort, and the turquoise Baspa River — is a spectacular reward after 8 days on trail.

Junegiri Yatra manages the full logistics including transport from Haridwar to Dhaula, all camping, certified guides with Rupin Pass experience, and the return from Sangla to Chandigarh or Haridwar. This trek requires a reasonable level of fitness and prior multi-day trekking experience. The snow bridge section between Dhanderas Thatch and the Upper Waterfall Camp requires microspikes and trekking poles and is guided carefully by our experienced team.
