Frequently Asked Questions — October
Yes — October (ideally first 3 weeks) is the final window before winter snowfall closes the pass. We operate our last Rupin batch in early-to-mid October each year. Late October conditions can be unpredictable and we may cancel for safety.
Fresh snowfall is possible on the Rupin Pass (4,650m) at any time in October. Our guides carry full weather monitoring equipment and make real-time go/no-go decisions on summit day. Junegiri Yatra has contingency plans including alternate descent routes if needed.
October is better suited to experienced trekkers who have completed 5+ day Himalayan treks. The cold, potential early snow, and demanding 9-day duration require proven endurance. We recommend May or September as better first-time Rupin months.
