Frequently Asked Questions — October
October is considered the prime month alongside May. Skies are crystal clear, trails are firm and dry, temperatures are comfortable for trekking, and the autumn colours on the lower forest trail add extraordinary beauty to the experience.
Early and mid-October is typically snow-free on the pass, though nights at Lahesh Cave (3,569m) can drop below freezing. From late October, fresh snowfall can dust the summit — adding drama but requiring warm layers and traction devices.
October is peak Triund season and can be crowded on weekends, especially from McLeod Ganj to Triund. However, the full Indrahar Pass route beyond Triund to Lahesh Cave sees far fewer trekkers and offers excellent solitude.
