Complete Golden Triangle Travel Guide
The Golden Triangle — connecting Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur — forms India's most celebrated tourist circuit, visiting three of the country's most historically significant and architecturally stunning cities in a compact, well-connected loop. Junegiri Yatra brings its Uttarakhand expertise to this iconic route, combining Haridwar departures with the rich cultural heritage of the North Indian plains.
Our classic 5-night Golden Triangle Tour begins in Delhi, where Day 1 covers Humayun's Tomb, Qutub Minar, India Gate, and the colourful bazaars of Chandni Chowk. Day 2 is dedicated entirely to Agra — the white marble Taj Mahal at sunrise, Agra Fort, and the Mehtab Bagh garden viewpoint for a sunset Taj silhouette. Day 3 takes you via Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's abandoned Mughal capital, to Jaipur — the Pink City. Days 4 and 5 in Jaipur cover Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar observatory, Hawa Mahal, and the vibrant markets of Johari Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar.
For wildlife enthusiasts, the Golden Triangle plus Ranthambore extension is a superb choice. Ranthambore National Park is among India's top tiger-spotting destinations, with a ruined 10th-century fort rising dramatically from the jungle floor adding a unique heritage dimension to every safari. Morning and evening zone safaris in open-sided Gypsies give you the best chance of spotting Bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and hyenas.
The Braj Bhoomi Yatra is our devotional alternative for pilgrims wishing to walk in the footsteps of Lord Krishna. The circuit covers Mathura — birthplace of Krishna — Vrindavan with its 5,000+ temples and the sacred Banke Bihari Mandir, Govardhan hill, Barsana (birthplace of Radha), and culminates with a visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra. This package is particularly popular during Holi (March) and Janmashtami (August), when these towns transform into seas of colour and devotion.

Your Complete Guide to the Golden Triangle from Haridwar
India's Golden Triangle connects three cities that together showcase the breadth of North Indian history, architecture, and culture. Delhi, the capital, layers 1,000 years of empires — from the Qutb Sultanate and the Mughals to the British Raj and the modern Republic. Agra, 200 km south, is home to the world's most photographed building. Jaipur, 270 km west of Agra, preserves the grandeur of the Rajput kingdoms that ruled Rajasthan for centuries.
Getting to Delhi from Haridwar
Haridwar to Delhi is approximately 220 km by road, taking 4–5 hours depending on traffic. Our packages include private AC vehicle pickup from your Haridwar hotel or guesthouse. Alternatively, the Mussoorie Express or Nanda Devi Express trains connect Haridwar to Delhi in 4.5–5.5 hours. Flying from Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport to Delhi Indira Gandhi International is a 1-hour option for those short on time.
Delhi Must-See Highlights
Beyond the monuments, Old Delhi's narrow lanes around Chandni Chowk reward explorers with street food (jalebis, parathas, kulfi), spice markets, silver jewellery, and the atmospheric Jama Masjid — India's largest mosque. New Delhi's Lodhi Garden offers a peaceful morning walk through 15th-century tombs. The National Museum on Janpath has one of Asia's finest collections of Indian art and artefacts spanning 5,000 years.
Agra Beyond the Taj
Most visitors spend only 2–3 hours at the Taj Mahal and move on, but Agra has more to offer. Mehtab Bagh, a garden complex across the Yamuna River, gives an unobstructed sunset view of the Taj without the crowds. Fatehpur Sikri, 40 km west of Agra, is Akbar's abandoned Mughal capital built entirely of red sandstone — remarkably preserved and far less visited than the Taj. Agra's Petha sweet (a white crystallised gourd confection) and leather goods are the most popular local souvenirs.
Jaipur Practical Tips
Buy a composite ticket for Amber Fort, Jantar Mantar, City Palace, and Hawa Mahal at any ticket counter — it saves money and works across two days. The Jaipur metro connects the Old City to New Jaipur efficiently. Johari Bazaar is the place for gemstones, handblock-printed textiles, and meenakari enamel jewellery. Bargaining at bazaars is expected; government-run emporia (Rajasthali) offer fixed prices as a useful benchmark.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Taj Mahal is open daily except Fridays, from sunrise to sunset. Entry fees (as of 2025) are ₹50 for Indian nationals and ₹1,100 for foreign tourists. An additional ₹200 is charged to enter the main mausoleum interior. All our packages include Taj Mahal entry fees and a certified ASI guide for the complex. Sunrise entry (06:00–07:00) is included in most packages for the best light and fewest crowds.
Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a massive red sandstone fortification built by Emperor Akbar in 1565. Highlights include the Jahangir Palace, the Khas Mahal, the Diwan-i-Khas, the Musamman Burj (the tower where Shah Jahan spent his final years gazing at the Taj), and the Amar Singh Gate. Entry costs ₹35 for Indian nationals and ₹550 for foreign tourists — included in our packages.
October through March is the ideal season, with cool days, clear skies, and manageable crowds. November–February is peak season with the most pleasant temperatures. April–June is hot (Agra can reach 45°C) but tours are operational with early morning site visits and air-conditioned transport throughout. July–September (monsoon) is quieter, greener, and significantly discounted.
Jaipur earned the nickname Pink City in 1876 when Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II ordered all buildings painted terracotta pink to welcome the Prince of Wales. Must-visit sites include Amber Fort (a UNESCO World Heritage Site with elephant rides and mirror palaces), Hawa Mahal (the Palace of Winds with its 953 windows), City Palace and its textile museum, and Jantar Mantar — a 18th-century astronomical observatory and UNESCO heritage site.
November through February offers the most comfortable weather for Rajasthan — cool nights, sunny days, and all major festivals. October and March are also excellent shoulder months. Avoid April through July when temperatures in Jodhpur and Jaipur regularly exceed 40°C. The monsoon (July–September) transforms Udaipur into a lush green city with dramatic lake scenery, and prices drop significantly.
Yes. All our Golden Triangle packages are designed for families. The itinerary pace is relaxed with private AC vehicle transfers between all cities. Children under 5 receive complimentary accommodation sharing with parents and reduced entry fees at most monuments. We can adjust the itinerary to include more interactive experiences like elephant rides at Amber Fort, kite flying demonstrations in Jaipur, and craft workshops.
Photography and videography are permitted in all outdoor areas of the Taj Mahal complex without restriction. Inside the main mausoleum (inner chamber), photography is strictly prohibited and cameras must be left outside. Drone photography requires special permission from the Archaeological Survey of India and is rarely granted. Tripods are not permitted inside the complex without prior written permission.
Yes. Our Taj Mahal Day Tour from Delhi operates year-round, departing at 06:00 from your Delhi hotel and returning by 20:00. The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays for maintenance. On full moon nights, the monument operates a special ticketed moonlight viewing (available only 5 nights per month) — we can arrange this on request with advance notice of at least 2 weeks.
