About This Tour

Junegiri Yatra's 5 Nights / 6 Days Golden Triangle Tour at β‚Ή18,500 per person is a well-paced circuit of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur that covers the major heritage sites at each city without feeling like a monument-ticking exercise. Each city gets dedicated time β€” two days in Delhi, one day in Agra, and two days in Jaipur β€” with comfortable mid-range hotel accommodation and local guides who specialise in each city's history.

The tour uses the Yamuna Expressway for the Delhi-Agra leg (3–3.5 hrs), passes through Fatehpur Sikri en route to Jaipur, and returns from Jaipur to Delhi by road or train depending on the group's schedule. It is designed for international tourists, NRIs, and domestic travellers who want a structured but relaxed cultural circuit with reliable transport and accommodation.

Included: 5 nights accommodation on double sharing, all transfers by AC vehicle, English-speaking local guide at each city, and monument entry fees for major sites (Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb). Meals are not included β€” each city has a range of reliable vegetarian and non-vegetarian restaurants and our guide provides specific recommendations at each stop. For a shorter Agra-only option, see our Taj Mahal Day Tour from Delhi. For a comprehensive overview of all our Golden Triangle packages, visit the Golden Triangle hub. Call +91 98738 97652 to discuss custom dates, private group tours, or combined pilgrimage and heritage packages.

Golden Triangle Tour India: Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur in 5 Nights / 6 Days

The Golden Triangle is India's most-travelled heritage circuit, connecting the capital Delhi, the Mughal city of Agra, and the royal city of Jaipur. These three cities form a rough triangle on the map, connected by well-maintained highways, and together represent the widest cross-section of Indian history β€” Mughal architecture, Rajput fortresses, and the colonial-era structures of Old Delhi. Our 5 Nights / 6 Days Golden Triangle Tour package at β‚Ή18,500 per person covers all three cities with comfortable accommodation and local guides at each stop.

Delhi Highlights

Delhi has enough historical sites for a week of exploration. This tour allocates two days, which means you cover the major monuments without rushing. The non-negotiables are:

  • Qutub Minar β€” the 73-metre minaret completed in 1193, the tallest brick minaret in the world. The complex also includes the Iron Pillar (4th century), which has not rusted in 1,600 years despite being exposed to rain.
  • Humayun's Tomb β€” built in 1570, this is the first mature example of Mughal garden-tomb architecture and directly influenced the design of the Taj Mahal. Less crowded than the Taj and architecturally more complex.
  • India Gate β€” the 42-metre war memorial at the end of Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath), best seen in the evening when it is lit up.
  • Red Fort β€” the Mughal imperial residence built by Shah Jahan, covering 2 kmΒ². The Diwan-i-Aam and Diwan-i-Khas are the most significant structures inside. Light and sound shows are held in the evenings.
  • Chandni Chowk β€” Old Delhi's main bazaar, dating to the 17th century. Best experienced on foot; lanes branch off selling specific goods (spice market, silver market, electrical goods, sari shops). Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque, is a 10-minute walk from Chandni Chowk.

Agra Highlights

Agra is a 3–3.5 hour drive from Delhi on the Yamuna Expressway. The city is dominated by three UNESCO World Heritage Sites β€” the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri.

Taj Mahal: Best Time and Practical Tips

The Taj Mahal is best seen early morning, between 6 am and 9 am. The light at sunrise softens the marble and reduces the number of visitors relative to midday. Entry gates open at 6 am. Long-lens photography of the Taj from the rear is possible from Mehtab Bagh across the river (see below). Inside the Taj complex, leather shoes are not permitted on the main mausoleum plinth β€” cloth booties are provided for free at the entrance. Food, drinks, and tripods are not permitted inside the complex. Spend 1.5–2 hours inside.

Agra Fort

Agra Fort is 2 km from the Taj Mahal and is often treated as a half-day addition to the Taj visit. It was the primary residence of Mughal emperors before Shah Jahan moved the court to Delhi. The Khas Mahal, Anguri Bagh (Grape Garden), and the tower where Shah Jahan was reportedly imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb β€” with a view of the Taj Mahal from the window β€” are the key sections.

Mehtab Bagh

Mehtab Bagh (Moonlight Garden) is a Mughal garden on the north bank of the Yamuna, directly across from the Taj. It provides the best rear view of the Taj Mahal and is especially striking at sunset when the marble turns amber. This is also the spot for Taj Mahal photography without the front plaza crowds. Admission is separate from the Taj ticket.

Fatehpur Sikri

Fatehpur Sikri, 40 km from Agra, was Akbar's purpose-built capital city, occupied for only 15 years (1571–1585) before being abandoned β€” the most common explanation is insufficient water supply. The complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and includes the Buland Darwaza (one of the largest gateways in the world), the Jama Masjid, and the palace quarters with intricate sandstone carvings. It is visited en route from Agra to Jaipur and takes 2–3 hours.

Jaipur Highlights

Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is a 5-hour drive from Agra. The city was founded in 1727 by Maharaja Jai Singh II and is built on a grid plan β€” unusual for its era. The old city's buildings were painted pink in 1876 to welcome the Prince of Wales, and the colour has been maintained ever since, earning it the name “Pink City.”

  • Amber Fort β€” the hilltop Rajput fortress 11 km from Jaipur's city centre, with detailed mirror-work interiors in the Sheesh Mahal and views over the Man Sagar Lake and Jaigarh Fort above.
  • City Palace β€” the royal residence of the Jaipur royal family, still partially occupied. The museum section displays royal artefacts including the world's largest silver urns (listed in the Guinness Book of Records).
  • Hawa Mahal β€” the five-storey sandstone “Palace of Winds” with 953 small windows, built in 1799 to allow royal women to observe street festivals without being seen. Best photographed from across the street, early morning.
  • Jantar Mantar β€” a set of 19 architectural astronomical instruments built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in 1734, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Samrat Yantra is the world's largest sundial and accurate to 2 seconds.

What to Buy

In Agra: marble inlay work (pietra dura) is the traditional craft β€” small boxes, coasters, and table tops are popular. Verify that you are buying real marble and stone inlay, not painted resin. In Jaipur: gemstones and gem-set jewellery (Jaipur is one of the world's largest gem-cutting centres), block-print textiles, blue pottery, and leather footwear (mojri).

Best Time for Golden Triangle Tour

October to March is the best period β€” temperatures in Delhi and Jaipur are pleasant (10–28Β°C) and Agra is ideal for early morning Taj visits. April–May sees temperatures rise to 40–45Β°C and the Taj Mahal visits are uncomfortable after 8 am. June–September is monsoon season β€” roads are fine but humidity is high. If you only have a day for Agra, our Taj Mahal Day Tour from Delhi is a practical alternative. For a full overview of our Golden Triangle options, visit the Golden Triangle hub page.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Golden Triangle tour covers three cities: Delhi (the national capital), Agra (home of the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri), and Jaipur (the Pink City, with Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, and Jantar Mantar). The three cities form a triangle in north India connected by well-maintained highways, and together represent a comprehensive cross-section of Indian history.

October to March is the best period for the Golden Triangle tour. Temperatures are pleasant (10–28Β°C), ideal for outdoor sightseeing and early morning Taj Mahal visits. April and May see temperatures exceeding 40Β°C in all three cities. June to September is monsoon season β€” the weather is humid but the sites are functional. The winter months of November to February are most popular with international tourists.

Arrive at the Taj Mahal at 6 am when the gates open. The morning light (6–9 am) is best for photography and the visitor count is lower than at midday. The Taj is closed on Fridays. Full moon nights offer a special viewing slot, but tickets must be booked separately weeks in advance. Avoid the Taj between 11 am and 2 pm in any season.

The package is priced at β‚Ή18,500 per person and includes 5 nights accommodation on double sharing, all transfers by AC vehicle, English-speaking local guides at each city, and entry fees for major monuments (Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Amber Fort, City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Humayun's Tomb). Meals, shopping, camera fees at some monuments, and personal expenses are not included.

Yes. Fatehpur Sikri is 40 km from Agra and is visited en route from Agra to Jaipur on Day 3 of the tour. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site β€” Akbar's abandoned Mughal capital with the Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, and palace complex. The visit takes 2–3 hours and is included in the itinerary.

You can do a shorter version, but we do not recommend less than 4 nights for the three-city circuit. The 5N/6D format allows one full day each for Delhi highlights, Agra, and Jaipur without rushing. For a single-day Agra trip from Delhi, we offer the Taj Mahal Day Tour from Delhi at β‚Ή6,500 per person.

In Agra, marble inlay work (pietra dura) is the traditional craft β€” look for stone-inlay boxes, coasters, and decorative plates. Buy from government-run emporiums or established shops to avoid painted resin imitations. In Jaipur, gemstones and gem-set silver jewellery, block-print fabric, blue pottery, and leather mojri shoes are the signature purchases. Avoid unsolicited shop recommendations from guides or drivers.

Yes. Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur are all flat cities with well-developed tourist infrastructure. Most monuments have wheelchair-accessible paths or ramps. At Amber Fort in Jaipur, an elevator is available for those who cannot climb the ramp. Inside the Taj Mahal, the main mausoleum has steps but the surrounding gardens are flat. Our itinerary is paced for mixed-age groups.

Delhi to Agra is approximately 200 km by the Yamuna Expressway (3–3.5 hrs). Agra to Jaipur is approximately 240 km (4.5–5 hrs) via Fatehpur Sikri. Jaipur to Delhi is approximately 270 km (4.5–5 hrs). All three legs are on well-maintained national highways and are covered by dedicated AC vehicle in this package.

Yes, though they are distinct circuits. The Golden Triangle is entirely in the plains of northern India (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur), while Char Dham is in the Uttarakhand mountains (starting from Haridwar). Some pilgrims complete the Golden Triangle first and then travel to Haridwar for the Char Dham Yatra, with Delhi as the common transit point. We can plan combined itineraries β€” call +91 98738 97652 to discuss.
