Pin Parvati Pass Trek 10N/11D

The Pin Parvati Pass Trek is one of the most remote, challenging, and breathtaking treks in the entire Indian Himalaya. This 11-day crossing begins in the lush, forested Parvati Valley of Kullu district and ends in the stark, lunar landscape of Spiti Valley's Pin Valley National Park — a complete transformation of terrain, culture, and climate over 90+ kilometres of trail.

The Pin Parvati Pass stands at 5,319 metres (17,457 ft) — higher than most European peaks — and is only reliably accessible for 10 weeks per year (July to September) when the glacier approach is stable. The pass sits on the boundary of the Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts and requires careful navigation, glacier crossing experience, and absolute fitness. This is not a trek for beginners.

The approach from the Parvati Valley side is one of the most beautiful in Himachal: starting at the famous hot springs and meadow of Kheerganga, the trail climbs through increasingly remote terrain past Tunda Bhuj, Thakur Kuan, and the remote Hindu pilgrimage site of Mantalai Lake (4,116m) — believed to be a sacred lake of Lord Shiva. Above Mantalai, the trail enters permanent glacier and snowfield territory, demanding technical awareness but no roped climbing.

The descent into Pin Valley is dramatic — a stark, nearly vertical landscape of grey scree and silver glacial streams. The Pin Valley National Park is one of the last habitats of the snow leopard in India, and sightings, while rare, are possible. Villages like Mudh in Pin Valley are among the most isolated in Himachal Pradesh, accessible only via this trek or a long dirt road from Kaza.

Junegiri Yatra provides the full logistics team: experienced guide with Pin Parvati experience, cook, porter (for shared equipment), camping gear, and all meals. The trek requires prior experience of at least two 5-day high-altitude treks above 4,000m. Weather windows are critical and we monitor forecasts daily. This trek is only offered July through September.

Leh is at 3,524 m — almost exactly the same altitude as Kedarnath (3,584 m)! Ladakhi residents are naturally acclimatized. They actually face the opposite challenge — descending to Haridwar (315 m) and then re-ascending. Our guides account for this.

Yes — the Leh–Manali highway (open June–September) allows a road journey. Leh → Manali (2 days) → Chandigarh → Haridwar (6 hrs). A spectacular Himalayan road trip before Char Dham. We handle the Haridwar onwards.
We welcome all Ladakhi pilgrims — Hindu, Buddhist, and mixed families. Our guides explain the significance of each dham respectfully for all spiritual backgrounds. Ladakhi military families (stationed at Leh) also regularly join our Char Dham tours.
