About This Tour

The Badrinath Yatra 2N/3D is one of the most sought-after short pilgrimage packages offered by Junegiri Yatra, designed for devotees who wish to experience the divine grace of Lord Vishnu at the sacred Badrinath Temple without a lengthy travel commitment. Nestled at an altitude of 3,133 metres in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, Badrinath is one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism and a key stop on the revered Char Dham Yatra circuit.

Your spiritual journey begins in the holy city of Haridwar, from where our private non-AC vehicle picks you up and begins the breathtaking drive through the Alaknanda river valley. The route passes through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Chamoli before ascending to Joshimath — a major staging town for the upper Himalayas. You will stay overnight in Joshimath on Day 1, allowing for acclimatisation at altitude before proceeding to Badrinath.

On Day 2, you proceed to Badrinath and participate in the morning Abhishek and Aarti at the temple. The Badrinath Temple, dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan (Vishnu), stands against the magnificent backdrop of the Neelkanth Peak. Before or after darshan, you will visit Tapt Kund — the natural hot sulphur spring believed to have medicinal properties — where pilgrims traditionally bathe before entering the temple.

A key highlight of this package is a visit to Mana Village, just 3 km from Badrinath, known as the last inhabited village before the Indo-Tibetan border. Here you will see the legendary Bhim Pul (a natural rock bridge over the Saraswati River), the cave where it is said that Vyasa composed the Mahabharata, and the spectacular Vasudhara Falls visible from the trail. This combination of spiritual significance and natural beauty makes Mana Village an unmissable stop.

If you are planning a broader pilgrimage, consider pairing this trip with our Do Dham Yatra 5N/6D package, which covers both Kedarnath and Badrinath. For those with more time, the full Char Dham Yatra from Haridwar covers all four sacred dhams — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.

This package includes comfortable hotel stays, daily breakfast, a dedicated English-speaking guide, all toll and parking charges, and Badrinath registration assistance. It is designed as an easy-difficulty package suitable for all age groups, including senior citizens and families with children. Our experienced drivers are well-acquainted with mountain roads and ensure a safe and smooth journey throughout.

Badrinath Yatra Travel Guide 2026: Everything You Need to Know

Badrinath, one of the four sacred dhams of the Char Dham Yatra, sits at an elevation of 3,133 metres above sea level in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Flanked by the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges and overlooked by the towering Neelkanth Peak (6,596 m), the Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan — a form of Lord Vishnu — and is visited by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims every year.

Getting to Badrinath from Haridwar

The most convenient way to reach Badrinath is by road from Haridwar, a journey of approximately 315 kilometres that takes 10–11 hours depending on road conditions and stops. The National Highway 7 (formerly NH 58) passes through Rishikesh, Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Gauchar, Karnaprayag, Chamoli, Pipalkoti, and Joshimath before reaching Badrinath. The drive is scenic but demanding, making it advisable to break the journey overnight in Joshimath.

Temple Timings and Darshan

The Badrinath Temple opens daily between 4:30 AM and 9:00 PM during the pilgrimage season (May to November). The day begins with Mahabhishek (a special bathing ritual for the deity) at 4:30 AM, followed by the Bal Bhog offering and morning aarti at 6:15 AM. General darshan runs from 7:00 AM onwards. The evening Shayan Aarti (the deity's bedtime ritual) is held around 8:30–9:00 PM and is a deeply moving experience for devotees.

Tapt Kund — The Sacred Hot Springs

Just below the Badrinath Temple lies Tapt Kund, a natural hot sulphur spring where the water temperature hovers around 45°C year-round. It is considered sacred and auspicious to bathe here before entering the temple for darshan. Separate bathing ghats are available for men and women.

Mana Village — Last Village of India

Located 3 km from Badrinath, Mana is the last inhabited village before the Tibet (China) border. The village is known for Bhim Pul — a massive natural rock said to have been placed by Bhima (one of the Pandavas) across the Saraswati River — and for the Vyas Gufa, where sage Vyasa is believed to have dictated the Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha. Vasudhara Falls, a 145-metre cascade visible from the village trail, is another attraction. Local women in Mana Village sell traditional woollen goods and homemade snacks.

Altitude and Health Precautions

Badrinath sits at over 3,100 metres. First-time visitors or those with cardiovascular or respiratory conditions should consult a doctor before travelling. Stay hydrated, avoid strenuous activity on Day 1, and carry basic altitude medication such as Diamox if recommended by your physician. Overnight acclimatisation in Joshimath (1,890 m) before proceeding to Badrinath significantly reduces altitude-related discomfort.

Packing Essentials

Even in summer (May–June), temperatures in Badrinath drop to 5–10°C at night. Warm layers, a rain jacket, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and a personal first-aid kit are essential. The temple complex requires removal of footwear, so carrying a small bag for shoes is helpful.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Badrinath Temple is open from May to November. The best time to visit is May–June and September–October, avoiding the heavy monsoon rains of July–August when landslides can disrupt travel. We offer departures daily during the open season.

Yes, this package is rated Easy difficulty. Most of the journey is by private vehicle. The walk within the Badrinath Temple complex is minimal, and the Mana Village walk is flat and easy. We recommend consulting your doctor if you have a heart or lung condition given the high altitude (3,133 m).

All pilgrims must carry a valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence). Badrinath registration is done online via the Char Dham Devasthanam Board portal. Our team assists with the registration as part of the package inclusions.

The Vasudhara Falls viewpoint can be seen from Mana Village without any trek. However, the full trek to Vasudhara Falls (approx. 5 km one-way) is optional and at your own pace. It is not included in the base itinerary due to time constraints but can be arranged on request.

The base package includes general darshan. VVIP darshan tickets and morning Abhishek puja booking are available at additional cost. Please inform our team in advance so we can arrange this — slots are limited and should be booked early.

We use a private non-AC vehicle (typically a Swift Dzire or Innova depending on group size). For groups of 6 or more, a Tempo Traveller is provided. Given the cool Himalayan temperatures, non-AC vehicles are perfectly comfortable for this route.

The package includes daily breakfast (2 breakfasts for 2 nights). Lunch and dinner are not included and are at your own expense. There are good vegetarian restaurants and dhabas available in Joshimath and Badrinath at reasonable prices.

Absolutely. This package can be extended to include Do Dham (Kedarnath + Badrinath) or the full Char Dham Yatra. We also offer custom itineraries — simply WhatsApp us or call to discuss your preferences and dates.
