About This Tour

Junegiri Yatra's 5 Nights / 6 Days Do Dham Yatra package at ₹13,500 per person is built around the two most significant shrines in Uttarakhand — Kedarnath (Shiva) and Badrinath (Vishnu). The itinerary gives one full day each for Kedarnath and Badrinath, with the night halts planned to minimise fatigue from back-to-back mountain driving. Night 1 is at Guptkashi for altitude adjustment, Night 2 at Kedarnath or base, Night 3 at Joshimath or Pipalkoti, Night 4 at Badrinath, and Night 5 at Rudraprayag or Rishikesh on the return.

The package is ideal for pilgrims who want a meaningful, unhurried experience at both dhams without committing to the full 10-day Char Dham circuit. It suits working professionals with limited leave, senior citizens who prefer to avoid the Yamunotri and Gangotri treks, and families travelling with young children or elders for whom a shorter trip is more manageable.

Included in the package: 5 nights accommodation on double sharing, dedicated vehicle for all transfers, and a local guide throughout the route. The itinerary includes time at Mana village and Tapt Kund as part of the Badrinath day. Meals are not included — dal, roti, and sabzi are available at roadside dhabas throughout the route. Helicopter at Kedarnath and VVIP darshan at both shrines are available as add-ons.

Pilgrims coming from Hyderabad, from Chennai, or from Kolkata typically fly into Delhi and take a connecting train to Haridwar — we can arrange pickup from Haridwar station. For pilgrims wanting to add Yamunotri and Gangotri, see our Char Dham Yatra 9N/10D package. Call +91 98738 97652 to book or discuss private group dates.

Do Dham Yatra: Kedarnath and Badrinath in 5 Nights / 6 Days

The Do Dham Yatra covers Kedarnath and Badrinath — the two most visited shrines in the Char Dham circuit. These are the shrines where demand for darshan is highest and which require the most physical preparation. Our 5 Nights / 6 Days Do Dham Yatra package at ₹13,500 per person follows the most practical sequence: Haridwar → Guptkashi → Kedarnath → Badrinath → Haridwar.

Why Pilgrims Choose Do Dham Over Full Char Dham

The full Char Dham Yatra adds Yamunotri and Gangotri to the circuit, which requires 4 more days and significantly more road travel on mountain highways. For pilgrims with limited leave, health considerations, or a preference to spend more time at the major shrines rather than rushing through all four, Do Dham is the practical choice. Kedarnath and Badrinath are also theologically central — one is a Jyotirlinga (Shiva) and the other is a Vaishnava kshetra (Lord Vishnu) — together covering both major streams of Hindu devotion.

If time and health allow, upgrading to our Char Dham Yatra 9N/10D package is always an option. If you only want Kedarnath, our Kedarnath Yatra 3N/4D package is available at ₹8,500.

The Route: Haridwar to Kedarnath to Badrinath

Day 1 begins in Haridwar with a drive to Guptkashi (220 km, 8–9 hrs). Day 2 covers the Kedarnath circuit — Guptkashi to Sonprayag to Gaurikund, then the 16 km trek to Kedarnath temple, darshan, and overnight stay at Kedarnath or return to base. Day 3 is the return trek and drive toward Badrinath, with an overnight halt at Joshimath or Pipalkoti. Day 4 covers Badrinath darshan, Mana village, and local sights. Days 5–6 are the return drive to Haridwar with a night halt at Rudraprayag or Rishikesh.

Badrinath Temple: Significance and Visitor Information

Badrinath temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams — the most sacred Vaishnava shrines — and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his Badri form. The temple sits at 3,133 metres on the banks of the Alaknanda River. The current temple structure is a colourful stone edifice rebuilt and maintained by the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). The presiding deity is a 1-metre tall black stone idol of Vishnu in a meditative posture, set inside the garbha griha. The temple is open from May to November; exact dates are announced annually.

Darshan queues at Badrinath are typically shorter than at Kedarnath. On non-peak weekdays, queue times are 30–90 minutes. VVIP darshan is available for a fee and reduces wait significantly. The morning abhishek (ritual bathing of the deity) and evening aarti are the two most sought-after darshan slots and must be attended by a separate ticket or early arrival.

Tapt Kund — The Hot Spring at Badrinath

Directly below the Badrinath temple is Tapt Kund — a natural hot sulphur spring at around 45°C. Ritual bathing here before entering the temple is traditional. There are separate bathing ghats for men and women. The hot spring water is believed to have medicinal properties and smells of sulphur. Early morning bathing, around 5–6 am, is the least crowded time.

Mana Village — Last Indian Village Before Tibet

Mana village, 3 km from Badrinath, is often described as the last inhabited village on the Indian side before the Tibet border. The village is home to the Bhotiya tribe and sits at 3,200 metres. It is worth the short drive or walk from Badrinath for two reasons: the cave where Vyas and Ganesh are said to have composed and transcribed the Mahabharata (Vyas Gufa), and the Vasudhara Falls — a 145-metre cascade 5 km beyond Mana that is reachable by a relatively flat walk through a rocky landscape. The village also has small shops selling local woollen goods, dry fruits from the region, and chyawanprash varieties made by local families.

Vasudhara Falls

Vasudhara Falls is a 5 km walk from Mana village, gaining about 200 metres in elevation. The walk crosses the Saraswati River (which disappears underground shortly after Mana and is said to become the underground Saraswati river of ancient texts). The waterfall drops dramatically from the high cliff above. It is one of the less-visited but more rewarding side trips in the Badrinath area. Fit pilgrims can comfortably do the round trip in 3 hours.

Comparing Do Dham with Full Char Dham

The full Char Dham Yatra adds Yamunotri and Gangotri — both involve separate treks (Yamunotri requires 6 km from Janki Chatti; Gangotri is accessible by road). The additional days are best used by pilgrims who are physically comfortable with mountain travel and have the time. For first-time pilgrims or those above 60, Do Dham is often a better introduction. You can always return to complete Yamunotri and Gangotri in a subsequent year.

Pilgrims from Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata frequently ask about minimum travel time — Do Dham in 5N/6D is the minimum we recommend for a comfortable, non-rushed pilgrimage to both shrines. Call us at +91 98738 97652 to check departure dates or arrange a private group tour.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Do Dham Yatra covers Kedarnath and Badrinath — the two most significant shrines in the Uttarakhand Char Dham circuit. Kedarnath is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Shiva, and Badrinath is a Vaishnava kshetra dedicated to Lord Vishnu. These two dhams are covered in 5 nights and 6 days from Haridwar.

The full Char Dham also includes Yamunotri and Gangotri, requiring 4 additional days and more road travel. Do Dham is better suited to pilgrims with limited time, senior citizens who want to avoid the Yamunotri trek, or first-time visitors who prefer depth over coverage. Kedarnath and Badrinath are theologically the most prominent of the four shrines.

The route is: Haridwar → Guptkashi (Day 1) → Kedarnath (Day 2–3) → Joshimath/Badrinath (Day 3–4) → Mana village + sightseeing (Day 4) → Rudraprayag/Rishikesh (Day 5) → Haridwar (Day 6). The sequence always starts with Kedarnath and proceeds to Badrinath, following the clockwise pilgrimage route.

Badrinath is one of the 108 Divya Desams — the holiest Vaishnava shrines in India. The temple sits at 3,133m on the banks of the Alaknanda River. The presiding deity is a black stone idol of Lord Vishnu in meditation, set inside a golden-roofed stone temple. The Tapt Kund hot spring at the base of the temple is used for ritual bathing before darshan. The temple opens in May and closes in November.

Yes. Mana village (3 km from Badrinath) is included in the itinerary as part of the Badrinath day. It is the last inhabited Indian village before the Tibet border and has the Vyas Gufa cave (where the Mahabharata is said to have been composed) and access to Vasudhara Falls, a 145-metre waterfall 5 km beyond the village. The Vasudhara Falls walk takes about 3 hours round trip.

Tapt Kund is a natural hot sulphur spring at around 45°C, located at the base of Badrinath temple. Bathing here before entering the temple is traditional and considered purifying. It is not mandatory, but most pilgrims observe this ritual. Separate bathing ghats exist for men and women. Early morning (5–6 am) is the quietest time.

The package is priced at ₹13,500 per person and includes 5 nights accommodation on double sharing, dedicated vehicle for all transfers, and a local guide throughout. It excludes meals, helicopter charges, VVIP darshan fees, mule/doli hire, and personal expenses. Helicopter and mule options can be added to the package.

The most demanding section is the 16 km Kedarnath trek from Gaurikund. Badrinath is accessible by vehicle. Pilgrims who cannot trek can use helicopter, mule, or doli for Kedarnath. Overall, the Do Dham Yatra requires moderate physical fitness. Altitude adjustment is important — a night at Guptkashi before the Kedarnath trek helps significantly.

May–June and September–October are the best periods. May is peak season with all facilities operational. September and October have fewer crowds and clearer skies post-monsoon. Avoid July–August due to monsoon landslides. The shrines open in late April–May and close in October–November.

Yes. Private customised Do Dham Yatra tours are available for families or groups of 4 or more. Private tours allow flexible departure dates, pace adjustments, and accommodation upgrades.
