What Travelers Say
The Har Ki Dun Valley is the most remote and beautiful place I've been in 20 years of trekking. Zero other tourists for two days. Just us, the guide, and Swargarohini.
15 days felt exactly right. We went from jungle trekking to hill stations to Himalayan cafes to the Golden Temple. India in full colour.
Booked as a solo traveler via WhatsApp. The team added a second solo traveler to share costs, which worked perfectly. The guide was exceptional throughout all 15 days.
Frequently Asked Questions
How hard is the Har Ki Dun Trek?▾
Moderate-Hard. Daily distances of 7-13 km on forest trails, max altitude 11,680 ft. The terrain is well-maintained and the forest section is beautiful, but Days 6-7 require sustained effort. Suitable for trekkers with some prior experience or good fitness.
Why is Har Ki Dun called the Valley of Gods?▾
According to Hindu mythology, the Pandavas (heroes of the Mahabharata) began their final ascent to heaven (Swargarohini peak) from this valley. Locals have worshipped this valley for thousands of years. It's one of the least-visited major treks in Uttarakhand despite its beauty.
Is 15 days too long for a first India trip?▾
This is actually an ideal length for experiencing multiple regions. Shorter trips leave you feeling you've rushed. 15 days gives time to slow down, adjust to India's pace, and actually absorb what you see.
