The Ramnagar Ramlila, held across the river from Varanasi in the old Ramnagar Fort complex, is a 31-day retelling of the Ramayana that has been performed continuously for over 200 years. It is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage and the world's longest Ram Leela. The Maharaja of Varanasi presides, and the performances use the entire fort and riverbank as a stage.
