Navratri (9 nights) in Haridwar is a continuous festival of temple pujas, evening aartis at Har Ki Pauri, and devotional singing. The Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi hilltop temples (both Shakti Peethas — seats of the Divine Feminine) are particularly active during Navratri with extended darshan hours and special pujas. Every evening of Navratri, the Ganga Aarti is more elaborate than usual, with additional lamp ceremonies. The ghat steps are lined with marigold garlands and earthen lamps. The combination of the post-monsoon Ganges and Navratri devotion makes October Haridwar uniquely atmospheric.

Rajaji National Park reopens after the monsoon closure on October 15. The first weeks after reopening are excellent — the forest is lush, water sources are full, and elephants are active in the terai. October is one of the best months for elephant sightings at Rajaji, as the herds move between the Shivalik hills and the terai grasslands.
