December offers the most dramatic daytime light at the Taj Mahal. The lower sun angle creates longer shadows across the marble inlay work, revealing the dimensional quality of the pietra dura (stone inlay) panels in the afternoon. The morning Taj in December can have thin winter haze that softens the image in an atmospheric rather than obscuring way. The afternoon from 3 PM to closing (30 minutes before sunset) provides the warmest tonal marble, when the white shifts to cream to gold as the sun descends behind you. The Mehtab Bagh (across the Yamuna) is spectacular for the sunset Taj silhouette.

Keoladeo (formerly Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site 55 km from Agra on the Agra–Jaipur route. In December, it is at peak birding season with thousands of wintering birds including Siberian cranes (rare), painted storks, open-billed storks, herons, and numerous duck species. A 2–3 hour cycle rickshaw tour through the park between Agra (morning) and Jaipur (arrival evening) adds a wildlife dimension to the heritage circuit with zero detour. Delhi in December averages 8–10°C at night and 20–22°C at midday. Fog can reduce morning visibility from mid-December, occasionally causing flight delays.
