Ayodhya from Navi Mumbai in April — FAQs
April is the last comfortable month before Uttar Pradesh summer heat (May–June) makes extended touring difficult. A well-planned April UP pilgrimage triangle: Ayodhya (2 nights) → Varanasi (2 nights) → Prayagraj (1 night). All three are connected by road and train. From Ayodhya, Varanasi is 3.5 hours by car; Prayagraj is 2.5 hours. April allows the full circuit before May makes outdoor walking and extended temple visits strenuous. Junegiri Yatra can design this 5-night Ramayan circuit as a single package.
Treta Ka Thakur is one of Ayodhya's oldest temples, believed to stand on the site of Ram's royal palace (Rajmahal). The stone idols in the temple — Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughna, and Hanuman — are said to have been installed by Ram himself in the Treta Yuga. Archaeologically, the temple site has evidence of continuous worship from the Kushana period (1st–3rd century AD). It is less visited than the new Ram Mandir but theologically one of Ayodhya's most significant sites. Darshan is free and queue-free most days.
The sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Mandir (Garbhagriha) and the main shikhara were inaugurated on January 22, 2024. As of 2026, additional elements of the 70-acre complex continue to be developed: the Kaushalya Mata temple, Lakshman temple, Bharata temple, Shatrughna temple within the complex, the museum and gallery, and the Yatri Suvidha Kendra (pilgrim facility centre). The 161-foot main temple is complete; the full 70-acre campus is expected to be complete by 2028. Visiting now gives access to the complete primary temple experience.
