About This Tour

Not every great trip needs a week off work. The Rishikesh Weekend Escape is designed specifically for busy people — working professionals, students, and city-dwellers — who want a genuine reset without burning through their annual leave. Rishikesh is just 5–6 hours from Delhi by road, making it the perfect Friday-to-Sunday destination: leave after work on Friday, spend a full Saturday in nature, and be back home Sunday evening refreshed and ready for the week.

This 1-night, 2-day package is lean and purposeful. Every activity has been chosen to give you maximum experience in minimum time. Day 1 gets you straight onto the river with a 16-kilometre rafting run on the Shivpuri stretch — one of the most popular and exciting rafting routes in India, with Grade II-III rapids that mix accessible thrills with stretches of calm where you can float and stare at the Himalayan skyline. After rafting, your Ganga beach campsite awaits with a warm dinner, a crackling bonfire, and a night sky that will remind you just how bright stars can be when city light pollution is absent.

Day 2 begins gently. A morning yoga session on the riverbank — open air, the Ganga in front of you, birdsong overhead — is one of those experiences that stays with you long after you return to your desk. After breakfast and checkout, a walk across Lakshman Jhula (one of Rishikesh's most iconic suspension bridges) and a visit to Triveni Ghat round out the morning. If timing allows, catch the Ganga Aarti before heading home.

This package is ideal for groups of 4–8 friends or colleagues, couples, and solo travellers who want a taste of Rishikesh without overcommitting. It is also a perfect first-time introduction to the region — many guests who do this package return within months for the longer adventure or yoga retreat. Everything is included: accommodation, all meals during the trip, rafting with gear, yoga session, and bonfire. All you need to arrange is your travel to Rishikesh.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

DAY 1
Day 1
📍 Arrival, Rafting & Beach Camping
Arrive in Rishikesh by early afternoon (ideally by 1pm to maximise the day). Quick check-in and briefing at the camp, then gear up for your rafting session on the Shivpuri stretch — 16km of Grade II-III rapids with experienced certified guides. Rafting takes approximately 2–2.5 hours. After the river, return to your beachside camp for a hot, hearty dinner. As the evening settles in, gather around the bonfire on the Ganga bank. The sound of the river, the smell of woodsmoke, and the Himalayan stars above — this is what the weekend is for. Overnight in tents at the riverside camp.

A visit to Triveni Ghat for the aarti (if timing allows) caps the cultural experience before you begin your journey home, energised and grounded.

What Travelers Say

★★★★★
We drove up from Gurgaon on a Friday evening, rafted Saturday afternoon, slept under the stars, did yoga Sunday morning, and were back home by 8pm. It was the perfect weekend. Cannot believe we had not done this sooner.

Our office group of 6 needed a break that was not just another hotel stay. This was exactly that — the rafting had everyone screaming and laughing, the bonfire had everyone talking honestly, and the yoga had everyone peaceful. Best team outing we have ever done.

Super value for money. Everything was arranged, the campsite was safe and clean, and the guides were brilliant. My partner and I are planning the 3-day adventure next time.

Rishikesh Weekend Trip from Delhi – Complete Travel Guide

If you live or work in Delhi-NCR and have not yet done a Rishikesh weekend trip, you are leaving one of India's great short escapes on the table. Rishikesh is close enough to be reachable in a single drive, and different enough from city life to feel like a genuine departure from it. This guide covers everything you need to plan a smooth, memorable weekend in India's adventure and yoga capital.

Getting to Rishikesh from Delhi

By road, the Delhi–Rishikesh route via the Delhi–Meerut Expressway and NH334 takes 5–6 hours under normal conditions. Traffic leaving Delhi can be heavy on Friday evenings, so aim to depart by 5am (beat the rush entirely) or after 9pm (overnight drive, arrive early morning). The route is well-maintained with multiple toll plazas, petrol stations, and dhaba stops. Taxis and cabs (Ola, Uber outstation, or private hire) are readily available. Overnight Volvo buses from Kashmere Gate ISBT run daily and cost approximately ₹600–900 per seat. By train, the Jan Shatabdi and Mussoorie Express connect Delhi to Haridwar (under 4 hours) from where Rishikesh is 45 minutes by road or shared auto.

When to Go

For a weekend focused on rafting and camping, aim for February–May or October–November. March and April are arguably the finest months — the days are warm but not scorching, the nights are cool enough to enjoy a bonfire, and the Ganga runs at energetic but manageable levels. Weekdays see far lighter crowds than weekends at popular spots like Laxman Jhula and the rafting launch points, but since this is a weekend trip, plan to arrive and launch on the river as early as possible to beat the Saturday afternoon rush.

Money and Connectivity

Rishikesh has multiple ATMs in the main market areas near Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula. Mobile connectivity is generally good in Rishikesh town — Airtel and Jio both have strong 4G coverage. At the campsite and on the river, expect patchy or no signal, which most guests consider a welcome bonus. Carry some cash for small purchases, auto-rickshaws, and temple offerings.

Safety and Health

Rishikesh is one of India's safer tourist destinations, including for solo travellers and women. The adventure activity industry is reasonably well-regulated, though quality varies — always book through a reputable operator like Junegiri Yatra who works with certified guides and uses quality equipment. Drink only bottled or filtered water. Do not consume the Ganga water despite its sacred status — the river carries significant bacterial load downstream of urban areas. Carry a basic medical kit including any personal prescription medication, oral rehydration salts, and antihistamines.

What to Eat in Rishikesh

Rishikesh is a holy city and alcohol is officially prohibited, as is non-vegetarian food in many areas. The café culture, particularly around Laxman Jhula, is excellent — Israeli, Italian, and pan-Asian menus sit alongside traditional thalis and fresh juice bars. The Little Buddha Café and Chotiwala are long-standing favourites. If you are on our package, your camp meals are included and freshly prepared. For Day 2 lunch before your drive home, the cafes on the Laxman Jhula bridge approach are highly recommended.

Responsible Weekend Travel

The Ganga and its banks are under enormous pressure from visitor volumes. Please carry reusable water bottles and avoid single-use plastic. Do not throw anything in the river or on the banks. Dispose of waste at designated camp bins. Respect the religious and cultural significance of the ghats — remove footwear at temples, dress modestly near the river, and photograph with sensitivity. The more respectfully we travel, the longer these extraordinary places remain extraordinary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Rishikesh is approximately 250km from Delhi via the Delhi–Dehradun highway (NH58/NH334). The drive typically takes 5–6 hours depending on traffic, with the Delhi–Meerut Expressway significantly reducing the initial stretch. We recommend leaving Delhi by 6–7am on Day 1 to arrive by early afternoon in time for rafting. Alternatively, overnight buses from Delhi's Kashmere Gate ISBT reach Rishikesh by morning, and trains to Haridwar (25km away) run frequently from Delhi.

Absolutely — this package is specifically designed to be beginner-friendly. The Shivpuri stretch is one of the most popular introductory rafting routes in India, with Grade II-III rapids that are exciting without being dangerous. Our certified guides conduct a full safety briefing before departure and accompany every raft on the water. No prior experience or swimming ability is required.

Travel light. Essentials include: a change of clothes for Day 2, quick-dry clothing or a swimsuit for rafting, secure footwear (sports sandals or old trainers that can get wet), a light jacket or fleece for the evening (the Ganga valley can be cool after sunset even in summer), sunscreen, a small towel, any personal medication, your ID, and cash (ATMs are available in Rishikesh but not at the campsite). Tents, sleeping bags, and mats are provided.

The morning yoga session is included in your package and we encourage all guests to try it — a sunrise session on the Ganga bank is one of those experiences that surprises even people who have never tried yoga. That said, if you would prefer to sleep in or spend the time quietly by the river, that is entirely your choice. There is no pressure. We do ask that you are respectful of others who are participating.

Our campsites are established, well-maintained sites used by reputable operators. Tents are proper dome camping tents with good quality sleeping bags and mats. Basic toilet facilities (eco-friendly camp toilets) are available. The sites are on the Ganga beach within the Shivpuri area, staffed throughout the night. Safety is our priority — campfire areas are managed, and the river access points at night are marked. Solo women guests and families are welcome and regularly hosted.

Yes — the 1N/2D package is explicitly designed as a starting point, and we regularly help guests add on bungee jumping, kayaking, a Marine Drive rafting session, or an extra night. The most popular upgrade is to our 2N/3D Adventure Pack, which adds the 83m bungee jump at Jumpin Heights, a full kayaking session, and the Marine Drive rafting stretch. Speak to us on WhatsApp and we will build the right itinerary for your group.

Cancellations made 7 or more days before the trip date receive a full refund minus a small processing fee. Cancellations made 3–6 days before receive a 50% refund. Cancellations within 48 hours are non-refundable. If we cancel due to unsafe weather or river conditions, we offer a full rescheduling at no extra cost, or a full refund. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to protect against unforeseen cancellations.

Rishikesh weekends are enjoyable almost year-round, but the sweet spots are October–November and February–May. During these months, the weather is pleasant, the Ganga runs at ideal levels for rafting, and the sky is typically clear. December and January are cold but manageable with warm layers — the campfire feels particularly magical on a cold Himalayan night. Avoid July and August when monsoon rains close rafting activities and make roads unpredictable.
