Complete Rishikesh Adventure Guide
Just 24 km downstream from Haridwar, Rishikesh is India's adventure capital and spiritual heartland rolled into one. Nestled where the Ganges emerges from its final Himalayan gorge, the town offers a unique blend of adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities and deep inner-peace practices that draws travellers from every corner of the world.
Our Rishikesh Adventure Pack is designed for thrill-seekers who want to squeeze the most out of three days. Day one covers the legendary Shivpuri to Rishikesh river rafting stretch — 16 km of Grade III–IV rapids including the famous Wall, Three Blind Mice, and Golf Course rapids. Day two opens with optional bungee jumping at India's highest fixed bungee platform at 83 metres or the Giant Swing and Flying Fox. Evenings are spent at a riverside camp with bonfires, live acoustic music, and a sky full of stars.
For those seeking balance alongside adventure, our 5-night Yoga Retreat at a certified Rishikesh ashram includes twice-daily yoga sessions (Hatha and Vinyasa), pranayama, guided meditation, Ayurvedic consultations, sattvic vegetarian meals, and evening Ganga Aarti. This programme is ideal for professionals experiencing burnout, first-time yoga practitioners, and international travellers on a wellness journey through India.
Our Weekend Escape is the perfect quick reset — a compact 2-day itinerary covering river rafting, a guided walk across the famous Ram and Laxman Jhula suspension bridges, a visit to the Beatles Ashram, cliff jumping at Neer Garh Waterfall, and a serene evening aarti on the banks of the Ganga. All meals and overnight camping or guesthouse stay are included.

Your Complete Guide to Rishikesh Adventure Travel
Rishikesh sits at the confluence of adventure and spirituality. Declared a meat- and alcohol-free zone, the town's twin suspension bridges — Ram Jhula and Laxman Jhula — frame a skyline of ashrams, yoga centres, and guesthouses that cling to the ghats above the emerald Ganga. From Haridwar it is just a 45-minute drive or a 30-minute shared tempo ride, making it an ideal day trip or overnight extension to any Uttarakhand itinerary.
Getting There from Haridwar
Shared tempos from the Rishikesh tempo stand near the railway station run every 15–20 minutes and cost approximately ₹30 per person. Private taxis take 35–45 minutes depending on traffic and cost ₹400–600 one-way. All our packages include return transfers from Haridwar, so you need not worry about logistics.
Permits and Safety Norms
River rafting operators in Rishikesh are regulated by the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board. Ensure your operator uses ISI-certified equipment — all Junegiri Yatra rafting partners comply. Photography on certain rapid sections may be restricted for safety; your guide will advise you. Bungee platforms operate under Ministry of Tourism adventure tourism guidelines with daily equipment inspections.
What to Wear and Carry
For rafting, wear quick-dry shorts, a rash vest or t-shirt, and secure sandals or sports shoes. Leave jewellery and loose items at the campsite. For yoga retreats, pack comfortable cotton or linen clothing, a personal mat if you have one, and light layers for early-morning sessions. The riverside can get chilly before sunrise even in summer.
Spiritual Highlights Not to Miss
The Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat each evening at sunset is a profound, free-to-attend ceremony with thousands of diyas (oil lamps) floating on the river. The Beatles Ashram (Chaurasi Kutia), where the Fab Four studied transcendental meditation in 1968, is open to visitors and worth a 2-hour exploration. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, 30 km from Rishikesh, is a forest-flanked Shiva temple revered as the spot where Shiva drank the Halahala poison — a beautiful half-day trip paired with a short nature walk.
