Char Dham by Helicopter 7N/8D
All four sacred abodes of the Himalayas β by air, in comfort, with VVIP darshan at every dham
About This Tour
India's most sacred pilgrimage β the Char Dham Yatra β covers four ancient shrines nestled in the Uttarakhand Himalayas: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. Traditionally undertaken over 10β14 days by road and foot, Junegiri Yatra now offers the complete circuit by helicopter in just 7 nights and 8 days, combining the spiritual depth of the full yatra with the comfort and accessibility of air travel.
This is the ultimate pilgrimage experience for those who seek the blessings of all four dhams without the physical demands of long treks or the delays of road travel. Whether you are a senior citizen fulfilling a lifelong spiritual ambition, a busy professional with limited leave, or simply someone who prefers to devote all available energy to prayer rather than travel logistics β this package is designed for you.
The journey follows the traditional sequence of the Char Dham circuit, beginning with Yamunotri, source of the holy Yamuna River, and home to Goddess Yamuna. Your helicopter lands at Kharsali helipad, and a short pony ride or palki takes you to the temple. Next is Gangotri, origin of the sacred Ganges, where the Gangotri Temple beside the rushing Bhagirathi River offers an atmosphere of extraordinary sanctity. Your helicopter arrives at Harsil helipad.
The third dham, Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is reached via Phata helipad with the iconic 7-minute flight through the Mandakini valley. Finally, the circuit culminates at Badrinath, abode of Lord Vishnu, where the temple is flanked by the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges and set above the Alaknanda River. At every dham, Junegiri Yatra arranges VVIP darshan passes to ensure close, meaningful access to the deity without the strain of long general queues.
Throughout the journey, you stay in premium and luxury hotels carefully selected for comfort, cleanliness, and proximity to helipads. All meals are included, and a dedicated guide accompanies you for the full 8-day circuit, handling all coordination so your mind is free for the divine.

What Travelers Say
The Complete Guide to Char Dham Yatra by Helicopter
The Char Dham Yatra β encompassing Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath β is considered the holiest pilgrimage circuit in Hinduism. Situated in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, the four shrines are believed to wash away all sins and grant moksha (liberation) to those who complete the full circuit. The concept was formalised by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century CE, who also established the tradition of visiting all four in the specific sequence: Yamunotri β Gangotri β Kedarnath β Badrinath.
Why Do Char Dham by Helicopter?
Traditionally, completing all four dhams required 12β16 days of road travel and trekking, with significant physical demands β particularly the 16 km Kedarnath trek and the 6 km Yamunotri trail. The helicopter circuit condenses this into 7β8 days, eliminates the trekking burden, and allows pilgrims of all ages to complete the sacred circuit. For senior citizens, those with health limitations, NRIs with limited annual leave, or families with young children, the helicopter Char Dham tour has transformed an aspiration into an accessible reality.
The Four Dhams: A Brief Spiritual Overview
Yamunotri (3,293 m) is the source of the River Yamuna and seat of Goddess Yamuna. The temple, rebuilt multiple times after natural disasters, houses a black marble idol of the goddess. The Surya Kund hot spring at the temple complex, where devotees cook rice as prasad in the boiling waters, is one of the most unique rituals in all of Indian pilgrimage. Gangotri (3,048 m) marks the site where the Ganges is believed to have descended to earth after King Bhagirath's penance. The temple, set beside the fast-flowing Bhagirathi River with snow peaks behind it, is among the most photographed sacred sites in India. Kedarnath (3,583 m), one of the 12 Jyotirlingas, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The ancient stone temple is believed to be over 1,200 years old in its current form, with origins dating to the Pandava era. The natural lingam in the sanctum, partially embedded in the rock floor, is considered one of the most powerful manifestations of Shiva. Badrinath (3,133 m), dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Badrinarayan), is considered one of the 108 Divya Desams of Vaishnavism. Flanked by the Nar and Narayan peaks with the Neelkanth peak behind, the colourful temple above the Alaknanda River is one of the most visually striking sacred sites in the Himalayas.
Season and Weather: When to Book Your Helicopter Char Dham
The Char Dham temples open annually in late April or early May (exact dates announced by the Char Dham Devasthanam Board) and close in October or November around Diwali. The best months for a helicopter circuit are May, early June, September, and October. July and August bring the monsoon, with heavy cloud cover frequently grounding helicopter services. September and October offer post-monsoon clarity, cooler temperatures, and significantly smaller crowds β arguably the best combination for a comfortable and deeply spiritual yatra. Early May is opening season and attracts large crowds but has excellent visibility.
Getting to Haridwar
Haridwar is the standard start and end point for the helicopter Char Dham circuit. It is well-connected by rail (Haridwar Junction) from Delhi, Mumbai, and other major cities. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (35 km away). Junegiri Yatra provides airport and railway pickup services as an add-on. We recommend arriving in Haridwar the evening before the tour departure to ensure an early morning start on Day 1.
Packing List for Helicopter Char Dham
Given the 5 kg helicopter baggage limit, pack strategically. A small 20β25 litre backpack should contain: government-issued photo ID (mandatory at all helipads and for darshan registration), warm thermal layers (temperatures at all four dhams can drop well below 10Β°C), a waterproof rain jacket or poncho, non-slip footwear, a reusable water bottle, personal medications including any altitude sickness preventives your doctor has prescribed, sunscreen and UV-protection sunglasses (high UV at altitude), and puja items (flowers, bilva leaves, coconut β available at each dham for purchase too). Your main suitcase travels by road and waits at your next hotel.
