The Delhi–Agra–Jaipur circuit is a plains itinerary with a lot of time outdoors — forts, gardens and the Taj at sunrise — so weather governs it completely. October to March is the comfortable window; April to June brings 40°C-plus heat that makes long sightseeing days unpleasant. The one complication of the peak season is December and January fog, which can disrupt road and rail transfers between the three cities.

Month-by-Month Guide
| Month | Status | Weather | Crowds | Price | Score | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | Open | 7°C to 21°C · Cold mornings · Dense fog likely | High | Peak pricing early January | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Pleasant once the fog lifts, and the Taj in winter light is superb — but January fog is the single biggest disruptor to this itinerary's transfers. |
| February | Open | 10°C to 25°C · Clear · Very little fog | High | Peak pricing | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | The best month alongside November. Fog has cleared, temperatures are ideal for full sightseeing days, and visibility at the Taj is at its best. |
| March | Open | 16°C to 32°C · Warm afternoons · Holi crowds | Medium to high | Peak pricing around Holi | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Good in the first half, warm by the end. Holi is spectacular in this region, particularly around Mathura and Vrindavan, but transport and hotels tighten. |
| April | Limited | 22°C to 38°C · Hot · Long dusty afternoons | Low — few visitors | Low pricing | ⭐ | Not recommended. Fort and garden sightseeing becomes an endurance test rather than a pleasure. |
| May | Limited | 27°C to 42°C · Severe heat | Low — few visitors | Low pricing | ⭐ | Not recommended. Peak summer across the plains. |
| June | Limited | 29°C to 41°C · Extreme heat before the monsoon | Low — few visitors | Low pricing | ⭐ | Not recommended. |
| July | Closed | Monsoon · Heavy showers · High humidity | Very low | N/A | — | Monsoon. Sightseeing is disrupted and the light is flat. |
| August | Closed | Peak monsoon · Persistent rain | Very low | N/A | — | Monsoon. Not advisable for a multi-city road circuit. |
| September | Limited | 24°C to 34°C · Monsoon withdrawing · Humid | Low | Low pricing | ⭐⭐ | Humid and unpredictable. Cheaper, but you are gambling on the monsoon having finished. |
| October | Open | 19°C to 33°C · Post-monsoon clarity | Medium, rising | Standard pricing | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Season opens. The air is at its cleanest after the monsoon, which matters for Taj photography, though early October can still be warm. |
| November | Open | 12°C to 28°C · Crisp, clear, dry | High — peak season | Peak pricing | ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ | The best month. Comfortable all day, no fog yet, and the clearest views of the Taj and the Amber Fort you will get. |
| December | Open | 8°C to 23°C · Cold mornings · Fog risk rising | High — holiday season | Peak pricing late December | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Very good weather, but fog begins to bite late in the month and delays the Delhi–Agra transfer. Build buffer into travel days. |
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
November and February. Both give comfortable daytime temperatures for full sightseeing days and clear air for the Taj. November has the edge on clarity because it follows the monsoon; February has the edge on reliability because the winter fog has passed.
It is the main practical risk to this itinerary. Late December and January fog across the north Indian plains regularly delays flights, trains and the Delhi–Agra road transfer, and can obscure the Taj until mid-morning. The weather is otherwise excellent, so build slack into travel days rather than avoiding the season.
April to June regularly exceeds 40°C, and this is an itinerary built around outdoor monuments — forts, gardens and the Taj complex. It is possible, and prices are lower, but the experience is markedly worse. October to March is worth waiting for.
