Frequently Asked Questions — July
Spiti Valley lies in the rain shadow of the Greater Himalaya — while Kullu, Manali, and Dharamshala receive heavy monsoon, Spiti remains largely dry with clear skies. This makes July ideal: the snow has retreated enough for manageable climbing, yet the approach is stable and clear.
Kanamo Peak requires good cardiovascular fitness and prior high-altitude trekking experience (ideally to 5,000m+). No technical rock climbing skills are needed, but the ability to use crampons and ice axe (taught on-site) is essential. 4–6 weeks of cardio training is strongly recommended.
BSNL has limited coverage in Kibber and Kaza. There is no reliable mobile network at high camp (5,200m) or summit. Junegiri Yatra carries satellite communication equipment on all Kanamo expeditions for emergency contact.
