Frequently Asked Questions — July
July is one of the two best months (with September). The meadows are in full bloom, the pass is reliably snow-free, and Chandrataal is a vivid sapphire blue. The only downside is high crowd levels and occasional afternoon showers.
Unlike monsoon treks in the lower Himalaya, the Hamta Pass trail is predominantly dry alpine terrain. Leeches are not a significant issue on this route even in July.
