Frequently Asked Questions — October
Early and mid-October are excellent — conditions are clear, trails are dry, and autumn colours are spectacular. By late October, first frost appears and temperatures drop sharply at camp. We operate Chandrakhani treks until around October 25 each year.
Kullu Dussehra (usually first week of October) is a week-long international festival with processions of hundreds of deities through Kullu town. It doesn't affect the trek route but adds a vibrant cultural experience to your base town stay in Kullu or Naggar.
The pass itself (3,660m) is unlikely to have permanent snow in early October, but by late October, first snowfall is possible after cold nights. The surrounding peaks including Deo Tibba will have significant fresh snow, creating dramatic backdrops from the pass.
