Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Rafting season runs October to June. July and August are suspended due to Ganga flooding. The best rafting conditions are October–November and February–April when water levels are ideal. Grade 3–4 rapids at Shivpuri and Marine Drive are the most popular runs.

The International Yoga Festival is held annually in the first week of March (usually March 1–7) at Parmarth Niketan Ashram. It draws yoga masters and practitioners from over 100 countries. Book accommodation 2–3 months in advance if visiting during the festival.

Rishikesh town itself is safe during monsoon — ashrams, temples, and yoga centres operate normally. However, all water-based adventure activities (rafting, kayaking, swimming) are suspended due to dangerous Ganga flood levels. Landslides can also disrupt the road from Haridwar on extreme rain days.
